Private tutoring in the Fox Chapel area, East End, and northern suburbs of Pittsburgh
FOX CHAPEL TUTORING WEXFORD TUTORING PRIVATE TUTORING SAT ACT math tutoring english tutoring history tutoring college counseling test preparation The goal of tutoring is to provide a student with greater experience and exposure to information specific to his or her learning style. Working with a student one-on-one enables me, as a teacher, to focus exclusively on that student’s needs. Flexibility ensures that revision exercises are developed based on student, teacher, and parent identified areas of difficulty. Enrichment, through the use of more difficult material and higher level thinking/reading questions is also possible in a private tutoring environment.
Very simply, we are passionate about education. Working with a student to achieve the “ah, ha!” moments is exhilarating and we learn daily from our students. Drawing from my widely varied prior experiences, we seek to continue learning as we teach, and adapting our instruction to meet the needs of any student we work with. Kirstin Fowler graduated from Duke University with a Bachelor’s of Arts, and continued her education at Sotheby’s Institute of Art, London where she earned a Master’s in Contemporary Art (merit). During her time in London, each of Kirstin’s professional endeavors included an emphasis on writing and reading critically as well as primary source historical research. Upon her return to Pittsburgh, Kirstin completed the Master’s of Arts in Teaching program at Chatham University to develop a formal understanding of educational pedagogy while applying prior practical knowledge to create engaging and vigorous curricula. She completed her student teaching in a 10th grade World History classroom at Upper St. Clair High School.
In addition to working with private clients and managing KEFTutoring, Kirstin is a freelance writer of curricula and lesson materials for Social Studies and English/Language Arts online courses and a substitute teacher for a number of well regarded suburban school districts and private schools. Kirstin has taught American History 8, Honors American History 9, and World History 10 in the North Allegheny School District and United States History II at Fox Chapel Area High School.

SINCE THE TUTORING PROCESS IS NOT A “ONE SIZE FITS ALL” SOLUTION, WE SEEK TO DEVELOP CUSTOMIZED LEARNING PLANS BY IDENTIFYING AND ADDRESSING THE UNIQUE NEEDS OF AN INDIVIDUAL STUDENT. WE AIM TO DEMYSTIFY THE LEARNING PROCESS IN ORDER TO ENABLE A STUDENT TO GRASP DIFFICULT CONTENT OR FORMULATE SYSTEMATIC STUDYING AND TEST-TAKING STRATEGIES.
